Today I am beginning a journey into the world of movie reviews. I have had no prior studies of the art of film besides that which I have Googled or stumbled upon on IMDB. My grammar and literary knowledge is adequate at best. I have not seen all the classics and the more intelligent and brainy plots of some of today’s films tend to fly over my head. However, I do love movies.
I have always loved the power movies have to transport us, the audience, to different times, places, and worlds while telling stories of tragedy and triumph, love and anger, forgiveness and revenge. They can move us to tears or make us laugh hysterically. Film possesses such a range of story telling and character development that nearly matches that of the written word, novels and books. Some may argue that literature dominates film still today, but I believe that in a few decades students will be learning about the film greats such as Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and countless others who have created some of the greatest stories and characters in recent memory.
This blog is not for the highly intelligent or the expert movie buff. I am writing these reviews for the common movie goer who just loves to escape this world for a few hours and experience something that they have never seen, heard, or imagined. I will also add videos of interviews, behind-the-scenes extras, and other interesting topics to enrich your movie watching experience as well. I hope at least one of my posts or reviews bring some joy, entertainment, or enlightenment to one of you reading my blog and I thank you very much for the opportunity.
